Hunting

This was the 1st of the 4 birds. He took his Eastern Wild Turkey along with prostaffer Tommy Walton Jr.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/hunting/thumbs/thumbs_hunt2.png"]The second leg of his Grand Slam. Wes and prostaffer Tommy Walton proudly show off the Rio Grande Turkeys in Oklahoma at Windmill Outfitters. He was able to take a nice buck. Wes connected with a couple fox squirrels.

Wes' 2010 Accident

They had no problems the first time across.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident4.png"]Wes was ejected from his wheelchair when they crossed the creek coming out of the woods after the afternoon hunt. This resulted in 7 broken bones, 4 missing teeth, and some stitches.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident3.png"]Wes was ejected from his wheelchair when they crossed the creek coming out of the woods after the afternoon hunt. This resulted in 7 broken bones, 4 missing teeth, and some stitches.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident6small.png"]Two of the broken bones; a tibula and fibula. He also broke his jaw, nose, two ribs, and cracked his hip.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident5.png"]Wes underwent several procedures to fix his broken jaw and missing teeth.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident7.png"]Against doctors orders, Wes was back in the woods in Illinois two weeks later. At least this time he wore a seatbelt![img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident8small.png"]Although greatly weakened from his injuries, Wes maintained his hectic schedule. This included a hog hunting trip in snow and single digit temps. His only way of getting around was in the back of a truck.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident9small.png"]His injuries and weakened condition finally took it's toll. Wes ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and a collapsed lung.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident10small.png"]Wes spent four weeks in the hospital, three of which he was on a ventilator, fighting for his life.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident11.png"]Wes underwent 2 surgeries on his throat.[img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident12.png"][img alt="" src="http://unlimitedoutdoors.info/wp-content/flagallery/wes-2010-accident/thumbs/thumbs_accident13small.png"]Two weeks after his second surgery Wes was back in the woods!
